Word Of The Week: Hurricane
A Hurricane, also known as a ‘tropical cyclone’ is a storm system that produce vast winds and rain. The English term Hurricane is usually believed to derive from Spanish (1) - as spanish explorers picked up the word from a Caribbean language named Taíno. In Taino ‘Huracan’ meant “storm”. Additional source might be Hyrrokkin, a giantess in the Norse mythology (2).
